Steve C left this review about The Dover Castle

The Dover Castle is an open plan Shepherd Neame pub that was busy with diners early on Tuesday evening last week. The food looked good and reasonably priced with mains that come in at around the £9 mark. There is early opening on Saturday morning at 9:30 when breakfast is available and roasts are available on Sundays from midday until 20:00. The bar on the rear wall is stocked with the usual SN draught and the four hand pumps were drawing Bishop’s Finger, Kent’s Best, Amber Ale and Thatcher’s Heritage cider. I decided to have a half of the Amber Ale which was politely served and on good form. To the left of the bar is some more seating in a lean-to and beyond here is a small backyard with some outside seating, some of which is under a shelter.
I didn’t spot any televisions in the pub, but there was some low background music and a weekly quiz was advertised for every Tuesday from 20:30.

This is a pleasant enough place, but a little too food led for my liking. There are so many good back street boozers in this area that I do not plan to revisit here for a beer in the near future.
