Proper old school locals boozer which always has a couple of ales on. I call in from time to time as I'm from Quarry Bank and it always seems to be busy. Long may it continue!

A cottage styled white rendered terrace pub

The interior is small and open plan and is in white and wood panel, with the spartan decoration supplied by a few plain framed mirrors and a few old photographs. There was a brick fireplace and a small wood bar. There was darts and a TV. Service was fine, the clientele mixed and it was busy.

Beer; tap stuff, with Banks's MILD and a decent Skinner's Cornish Blond wheatbeer, the excellent Enville Ale and Salopian Golden Thread on handpull, along with the untried Holden's Golden Glow.

A little plain inside, the pub is rightly, in my opinion, in the GBG 2010, as the ale choice and it's quality was very good. I will visit again.

A one roomed pub around a central bar, its a bit basic and nothing really special. Traditional pub decor - carpet, mahogany tables/chairs.

It feels like it needs some tlc and a bit of thought/money to improve - eg there was a real fire place not in use, they were using the radiators on full blast, some of the decor was a bit worn, that kind of thing.

Mind you the beer was well kept (Old Swan Bumblehole) and its in walking distance of the Bull & Bladder.
