Will Larter left this review about The Riverside

Changed from the Freemasons Arms, presumably to avoid confusion with two other nearby pubs with similar names. However, the new name has something of "out of the frying pan into the fire" about it, as there are two other pubs on the River Don also called Riverside, one of them only a mile away.

The pub has now been done up in sports bar style, but with five hand pumps. Beers available when I was here were GK IPA, Brains White Out, Caledonian Over the Border, Shepherd Neame Spitfire and Sharps Doom Bar. There were a number of rather good b&w photos of old Sheffield trams to keep me amused while I supped my half of whichever of those five I chose (the Caledonian, I think) - this is not my sort of place at all, though for those that like this sort of thing, at least there's a choice of real ales.

Alan Winfield left this review about Freemasons Arms

The Freemasons Arms used to be a John Smiths tied house in the 80s and did'nt have any real ale on.
This pub is in a nice setting next to the river in the middle of hillsborough, the pub has now been opened out and has real ales on the bar.
