Good and lively community pub serving village. Entry is confusing, with both doors leading into Lounge Bars. In fact the two separate rooms are joined together around a central island bar. The pub is nicely refurbished, with traditional furnishings and a pleasant change from stripped back modern interiors. Outside, the former car parking spaces have been turned into a pavement drinking area with the addition of astroturf, but there is public parking across the road. 6 cask ales are on offer (check board to see what is on other side of bar) with a mixture of local and far-flung beers, and that sampled was in very good condition (Cask Marque listing). Food is traditional honest English pub fare and very good, but check serving hours. All in all, a respectable village pub and worth the short detour from the A64.
