Indeed, this should not be confused with the Sun Tavern around the corner in Long Acre. A first in here the other night into what is a small mid-Victorian corner pub which from the photos, has an attractive array of hanging baskets, replete with colourful pants in summer.
The interior is part bare brick and that which isn’t is painted pale grey. Furniture comprises fairly modern high tables and chairs and the bar is quite modern with a metal top and wooden planking to the front. Sport played on a TV, thankfully with the sound down.
Ales: one unused pump, thereafter just Fuller’s London Pride at a cheap £2.20 a half and not in great condition.
This pub may be cheap – certainly for Covent Garden – but the lack of ale choice, quality and uninspiring interior mean that I’m unlikely to return.

Closed on Sundays (ironically).

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Sun

One of those really small corner pubs that somehow keep going, and although close to Covent Garden it is off the main tourist track. 'Refurbished' at some stage in a limited way, with a limited amount of furniture inside and only standing space out on the pavement. Pride and Sharp's Atlantic (£4.50) available from the pair of handpumps. NB - Not to be confused with the Sun Tavern very close by in Long Acre.

Small bar on Drury Lane but thankfully not themed for tourists or theatre goers. Its a plain boozer, slightly modern inside but comfortable & a hideaway from the bussle outside. Telly & gaming machine. If they improved the quality of the beer this would be a very good place.

Steve of N21 left this review about The Sun

The Sun is a smallish late 19th Century corner pub on the junction of Drury Lane and Betterton Street a short walk from Covent Garden market. And despite its close proximity to this tourist magnet it is sufficiently off the beaten path to be a lot less crowded than the establishments nearer the market square. A single room pub with a comfortable, but fairly routine interior decor. Seating at one end and then the bar stretching throughout the rest of the pub, with a plazma TV situated at either end. Two handpumps on the bar, one dispensing GK IPA, but the other was Flowers Original, which is an increasingly rare find nowadays. The GK IPA was already off when we arrived, which is usually no great loss, but then the Flowers went off mid round rendering the pub ale less, so we had to move on sooner than we expected.
But all in all , a decent but nothing special back street pub close to Covent Garden and I will probably pop back in again, just for The Flowers.
