A nightingale’s chirp from Berkeley Square, dating from 1744, this boasts being the oldest pub in Mayfair, grade II-listed and cited on CAMRA’s list of pubs with historic interiors, being of Some Regional Importance, on account of the fine but simple mirrored bar back and beautiful canopy; the carpeted snug also has a lovely marble and carved wood surround. Otherwise, the interior is rather elegant. The floor is modern bare boarded, the walls are chocolate brown whilst the richly detailed ceiling with egg and dart cornice is white, Anaglypta to both. There are swag curtains with sturdy brass curtain rails. Furniture is conventional, with some studded banquettes; lighting comes from brass lanterns over the bar, with Victorian-style sconces and a few candles in jars; decent music played at an acceptable level.
Being a Shep’s house, nothing other than their beers were ever going to be available, but just the two: Whitstable Bay and Spitfire at £2.80 a half and rather nice, served by a barman wearing a stupid pair of pointy ears.
This is quite a fine pub and with a greater selection of ales could be a destination, but it’s worth a look for the lovely interior.

A fine street corner building in Mayfair and not to be confused with another Coach & Horse to the east of Berkeley Square,it's a Shepherd Neame tied house.Essentially a single room ,but with an attractive high ceiling,a decent carved wood bar back and leather backed bench seating apart from at the front where there are a few high circular tables ,it's all quite traditional. There is an unused fireplace beyond the bar on the left side.and gentle jazz was playing on my lunchtime visit.
Just two ales abvailable SN Spitfire and Winstable Bay Pale Ale (decent,£4.25),while the food menu was a mix of pizze ,pub grub and sandwiches with mains starting at £12 which seemed pricey to me.
Limited ale options would make this a one pint stop, but it's decent enough if crawling the area.

An attractive corner pub just off the historied Berkeley Square, this Grade II lister has apparently been in existence since 1744 and is currently in the clutches of those Kentish tyros Shepherd Neame. A small, high-ceilinged, woody room with bar against the far wall, albeit jutting into at least one half of it, it was packed with after-work suits on my week-night visit. Spitfire and Whitstable Bay on the stumps - two banks of two either side of the bar; the Spitfire £2.30 for a half, which is probably about right for the location. Closed at weekends (although available for hire at the right price) there's also a dining area upstairs for the limited food hours of 12-4 Monday to Friday.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Coach & Horses

Confusingly, there are two Coach & Horses pubs in the same part of Mayfair, but this is the Shepherd Neame house. Attractive, if narrow, single bar with a staple-shaped counter and traditional furniture / decor. Kent's Best and Spitfire (£3.80) available from the four handpumps. Overall, nothing particularly distinctive but certainly more appealing than many of the more upmarket establishments nearby.

This is a Shepherd Neame house, and had on Spitfire and Kent’s Best (£3.40 a pint)when I was in on Wednesday evening. Food was available, and although I didn’t get to see a menu, I did see a barmaid waltzing past me clutching a basket of chips covered in a sauce of some kind.
This place is like a real pub, and thus is something of a rarity here in Mayfair. There are only normal tables and chairs, it’s nicely carpeted, and has nothing garish about it. There’s a bit of ancient floor tiling in front of the entrance, and it still retains a very nice and distinctive bar back including a sort of wooden frame above and in the centre the servery area. Even though it was quite busy the service was efficient and friendly. Now that the Red Lion’s gone, and the Punch Bowl seems irredeemable as a proper pub, at least for now, this is my favourite Mayfair pub. I’ll no doubt return.

Very close to the other pub in Mayfair bearing the same name, and this one is more of a traditional local. In fact everything inside seemed to be steriotypical pub decor, usual carpet stools etc.

There is a square bay area opposite the bar which is perhaps unusual.

Its a Shepherd Neame pub & the beer is ok if not out of this world, though it is Good Beer Guide 2010 listed.

Its ok if you are passing

Not very big inside, sells real ale, both Shepherd Neames own brand. Subdued lighting and dark wood interior. Not open at weekends as far as I could tell.
