Old Boots left this review about Rose & Crown

A neat three roomer, a small bar with the counter, another similar without to the left and a third small one with a brewery display Cosy old fashioned sort of place with proper pub seating and tables. Seven pulls but no beers from the promised on-site microbrewery to be had I suspect it went a while ago. However beers from Little Critters, Stancil, Cross Bay, Abbeydale and Ilkley provided a good choice. There’s a big pipe keg fitting with five not unusual kegs, cider and lager but no Guinness. There’s an out of date beer menu blackboard behind the bar. Busy-ish with older diners, not a foody pub but there were a few in.

Visited back in March. Was not particularly busy on my weekday visit but it was getting towards the end of what most people would class as lunch time so probably to be expected. This pub is home to the Howarth Steam Brewery and I had been wanting to try it as I have never heard of the brewery or had any of their beers before. At the bar were seven pumps, of which six were clipped. Two were by Howarth Steam (Dark Mild and Hurricane IPA), two by Whitechapel - which apparently is also Howarth Steam (Boot Hill IPA and Lion Bitter). The blank pump looks like it may have been something by Settle Brewery, as it was still listed on the chalk board, and the other pumps were Stancill Aurora and Yorkshire Scrumpy, a cider by Whitechapel. All seemed to be priced £2.70 a pint (though I noticed I was charged £1.50 for a half). Unfortunately my first and second choice of beers turned out to be off.

A central bar serves a small room with a fire. There is a larger room to the left and another to the right which is reserved for dining. A nice pleasant pub but I didn't find their beers to be anything special, but nice to have tried them.
