A very old building with small stained glass windows, its a hotel and restaurant rather than a pub. There is a public bar in one corner of the building, accessed off the side street. Its ok, nothing special if you are just drinking.

No real ale.

Bagdale Hall has, over the years, become the venue of choice for most of the family anniversaries. The latest visit was to celebrate a fiftieth birthday. We booked a table for eighteen, (which was slighty longer than the fireplace), and enjoyed drinks in the bar before hand. The meal was excellent and washed down with plenty of house red. Afterwards the staff agreed to take the group photo's and we retired to the lounge and had an hour or two finishing off the wine and champagne. There is only one critisism of this quite superb restuarant, built when Henry Tudor was King, and that is there is no real ale, although the John Smiths Extra Smooth did go down quite well.

Awesome place to stay. Pricey, but nice, bar. Very picturesque and very friendly.

Had an excellent evening here on Saturday. Started off with a few pints of John Smiths and glasses of red wine in the lounge, then went and enjoyed a superb meal in the restuarant. This place dates from 1516, its haunted and has a feel of medieval antiquity. The table for eight was nearly as long as the fireplace. The food was really very good. I had Langoustines followed by Roast Duck, and an Irish coffee. Every one agreed it was a great night out.
