Revisited 6 years later and still much the same, with the emphasis on food (very good, by the way) but some well-kept Shepherd Neame ales on offer as consolation. The place seems to be very well run and looked after however.

A large food led pub, there is some provision for drinkers in the long narrow front bar but either side of this dining is king. There were two banks of four handpumps all clipped but just three beers divided amongst them, all Shepherd Neame, Spitfire,Bishops Finger and Whitstable Bay the latter being in average condition at a steep £4.25 a pint. I'm not likely to return for drinking purposes.

The beer was OK but very expensive - they charge like a wounded bull!

Deceptively large pub on edge of common, mainly given over to family dining, including carvery.
Seems to get extremely busy at peak times, but might have more of a pub atmosphere when quieter. Beers are from Shepherd Neames only, but quite a good selection from the range. Live music, quizzes etc occasionally. There are a large number of outdoor tables, although they are a bit regimented, especially at the rear. Not unpleasant if looking for somewhere to eat, but wouldn't be my first choice for drinking at.
