An old pub with a couple of extensions tagged on to either side which to an extent spoils the exterior view of the pub, opened out inside into a long room probably at the expense of some of the ambiance this pub may once have had. Red carpet throughout with light coloured walls, some tall tables and chairs and some sofas, there was a slight club like feel to the place which did not endear me to it. Three ales on to complement the usual fizz, these were,Fullers London Pride, Arundle Sussex Gold and Porter Street Oval 6 which obviously was a cricket themed beer but despite this was an OK beer in decent condition. The pubs alright for a quick stop off but I wouldn't go out of my way again.

Potentially good pub but refurb has left everything rather too clean and bereft of atmosphere. One long room, which seems a bit short on furniture (and why go for the trendy high tables?) and with too much bare brickwork. On a bitterly cold day, the heat from the fire at one end was very inadequate. A few good beers but not sure of condition, and food was fair but not great. Not a patch on the unspoilt inn it used to be a few years ago, but at least it hasn't gone gastro.
