This is a Greene King pub that had only IPA on (at £2.60 a pint), although there was a clip reversed on another pump, most likely for Abbot Ale. The menu featured the usual cheap pub grub, including a £2.99 meal and drink deal. This looks like a relatively new build pub, possibly post-war. It’s clearly a locals’ pub, and was doing a good trade on Sunday afternoon, with almost everyone watching the Man U v Liverpool game on the large TV screens. There is a large island bar in the centre of the room, with drinking areas wrapped around it, and with a room at the back containing a pool table apparently being used as a kids’ playroom during my visit. It’s furnished entirely with normal tables and chairs.
I thought this pub was fairly characterless, with no features worthy of mention. I doubt whether I’ll be paying a return visit.

just had my second lunch in here.. wont be going back!!
1st time i ordered a "baked" spud to find it was straight out of microwave still with the eyes and on the green side! thought it was just a one off went back today for a hunters chicken baguette and my friend had a all day breakfast, my baguette was cremated from melting the cheese under the grill, to be told "sorry its just a little bit burnt and smothered in bbq sauce so much that was all i could taste" my friends sausage was rock hard to the point we thought it was freezer burnt and then cooked along with her raw egg white with burnt underside!
No one asked us if everything was ok and complained at the end but just got a meek look and a whispered apology! both times the pub has been quite Will return for a drink but will NEVER eat in there again

Went along to this pub on Saturday 18 September - they put on a day for Help The Hero's - the day was fantastic!!! Although this is our 'local' pub - we havent been there for a number of years because there was always some sort of trouble. Now it is a very friendlyt pub and we were made to feel very welcome - the bar staff are extremely friendly and very efficient.
Well done to everybody who helped to put on this fantastic day - me and Del will certainly be going back and will use the Butterchurn as our local friendly pub - cant wait to taste the food too.
