Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Rose & Crown

This old coaching inn looks impressive from the street, with a grand portico surmounted by a large coat of arms (and the old entrance to the rear yard and former stables to the left-hand side). Inside, what was once a rather pokey hotel bar and fusty old lounge has been completely remodelled and opened out to form the new Oak Room Bar & Grill. The modern furniture and decor makes the whole place look lighter and more welcoming. There are also two real ales available again: Spitfire and the ubiquitous Harvey's (£4.50) on this visit. Of course, the refurbishment won't be to everybody's taste, but it was a major improvement (from an admittedly low starting point).

Steve C left this review about Rose & Crown Hotel

The Rose and Crown Hotel is an old coaching inn that has had all of its character removed at some point when the designers of Best Western gutted the interior. It now looks and feels like a hotel bar and dining area. The small bar is located to the left of the entrance where there are a couple of tables. The bar supports two hand pumps that were drawing Harvey’s Best and Shepherd Neame’s Early Bird. The keg options during my recent early Friday evening visit were Carlsberg Extra Cold, Asahi, Guinness and Whitstable Bay Blonde. The large dining area is to the right of the entrance. The mains on the specials board had the likes of ham, egg and chips for £9 and Scampi and Chips for £8. At the rear is the reception and beyond is the back entrance where some wooden garden benches can be found. At the far rear is a car park.

I think that I’ll leave this place to the hotel guests and diners in future.
