Steve C left this review about The Jug

The Jug is a rectangular open plan wooden floored pub with a stage on the right-hand wall that was supporting speakers and disco lights, which were thankfully off during a recent midweek afternoon visit. To the left of the entrance is a pool table and the bar counter runs along the rear wall. Standard and premium keg was available alongside Beavertown’s Gamma Ray. There are also two banks of three hand pumps, the Landlord was off which left Fullers London Pride as the lone cask ale option, although Lilley’s Mango cider and Seacider were also available. The service was friendly, but I was the only customer when the other pubs of the area all had a few people in at least.

A rather more disappointing visit for us than Al. As he says there's a very large stage at one end of the pub and on our visit several mums with feral brats running around at the other end. There's a beer garden to the rear. Only 2 beers available on handpump and I had a pint of Banks's Sunbeam which was just about OK. We'll not be visiting this one again next time we're in Newcastle.

Not too bad a pub. A single room with the bar directly in front of you as you enter and a stage to your right. An outside courtyard for drinking is also at the rear. 6 real ales available.
