Steve C left this review about Roebuck

The Roebuck stands proudly on a corner of Crackley Bank at the top end of Chesterton. A banner on the frontage advertises Sky Sports, but MTV Hits was the channel of choice on the plasma screen during a recent Tuesday evening visit. I imagine that football would have been airing if available. The wooden floor and furnishings alongside an array of copper pots led to an almost rustic setting. The bar is stocked with standard keg products and two of three hand pumps were out of action leaving Ruddles as the lone cask ale choice. I didn’t note any advertisements for food.
The bar is found on the right and at the rear is a raised seating area and pool table. The entrance is marked as the ‘Lounge’ so I imagine that the small seating area to the front of the bar was once separate, I may be wrong. To the left of the pub is an enclosed paved beer garden with seating, some of which is covered by the pubs overhang. Vintage metal cigarette advertisements are found on the walls and there is a door to an advertised function room.
The doors do not open until 14:00 Tuesday to Thursday, but there is an extension until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. On Saturday nights there is often live music or Bobby’s Boom Boom Karaoke Disco.
I found the service to be polite and I liked the atmosphere even though there was only a handful of other customers. I would have no problem returning here if passing.
