Al Bundy left this review about The Boat & Horses

A fairly standard pub, notable for its sky blue exterior, on the other side of the roundabout that separates this part of Newcastle from the town centre. The pub is split into 3 areas with the central area housing the bar. A small beer yard is to the rear. 6 handpulls in total with a bank of 2 and 4. Harvest Pale, Doom Bore, Bass Bitter were your choices today. Not too bad a pub but there are better places around.

Will Larter left this review about The Boat & Horses

Painted an odd shade of almost turquoise, the Boat & Horses is much more conventional once through the door. I was the only customer not long after 4pm opening, though I was told that it becomes busy later. There are two hand pumps on the front of the bar, but these were only to display the pump clips, seemingly: Titanic Plum Porter and Bass were the beers on, and the beers are poured from the bank of four pumps on the right hand end of the bar. The barman apologised that the Doom Bar was not ready yet, having only been delivered that morning. He reckoned it would be going on sale that evening, which seems likely to be a bit premature, and perhaps accounts for that beer being so hit and miss in the many places where it is the only cask ale. To be fair, the Bass was in very good condition. This is a pleasant enough pub, but it was difficult to discern what the atmosphere might be like without more people being present. In the absence of other humans, I looked around at the various fittings: there's quite a good looking fireplace, but there was no fire. And the gents toilet is identifiable by a picture on the door of John Wayne holding a Winchester - make of that what you will.
