Bucking Fastard left this review about The Macc

I was impressed by this pub,it seems a lot of care and attention has been paid here, and the interior is quirky and interesting. The mosaic tiling at the entrance leads to a public bar to the right, while to the left is a section with it's own servery with a series of leather sofas, while through an arch is a largish room with square dining type tables each with a tea light. The decoration had been well thought out,it feel sophisticated without being over the top. There was a friendly welcome from behind the bar and a choice of 6 craft keg and 6 ales described on the chalk board above this section of the bar.Sadly this wasnt up to date and I missed the opportunity to have a Whim Flowerpower, the other choices were Whim Hartington Bitter,a porter I failed to note,RedWillow Stateless IPA (very good) and another Red Willow brew.
A good soundtrack was playing ,and the public bar TV was showing some terrestrial sport but this didn't impact the rest of the pub.The regulars hang out in the public bar,but being away from the town centre it's a calm place.
Should be included on any ale tour,it must be close to inclusion in the GBG given the range and quality on my visit.I would certainly return.

This is a well run and comfortable pub, serving five ales on handpump on our visit. The service was fast and friendly at the bar. The main feature in here was the colourful mosaic floor tiling around the main entrance. We went for the Pictish Alchemists Ale and the Stancill Brewery Stainless, both were in top condition. Note there is an excellent chip shop across the road called the Mill Lane Chippy, this is highly recommended.

Aqualung . left this review about The Macc

This is an old pub just off the Town Centre that has been knocked into one room but still retains a mosaic tiled section in addition to the carpeted areas.
On my visit Macclesfield Town down the road had just finished their stupid game so it was quite busy and meant that I didn't get to see all five beers available. I spotted Abbeydale Temptation and then Magic Rock Punchline which I went for at around £3.50. It was a porter with a distinct and fairly strong chilli kick to it, not one for the faint hearted. It was in superb nick and I loved it.
I would happily return to this one.

Alan Winfield left this review about The Three Crowns

The Three Crowns is on a very busy road about 5 minutes walk from the town centre.
When i first went in this pub it was a Tetley walker house but since then joseph Holts of Manchester have bought the pub and done it up by opening the pub out into one smartish room that was carpeted and seemed quite a nice pub to have a drink in.
There were two real ales on the bar i had a drink of Holts Bitter which was very nice the other beer was Holts mild both of these beers were quite cheap.
I quite enjoyed my visit to this pub.
