Recently done-up and a nice job they've made of it. Multi area'd, painted off-white green mushroom colours with a bit of exposed brick. Fell apart at the bar though, three mainstream cask and my Theakston Bitter was tepid with a tart nose (NBSS 1). Dumped it and headed off. 50p says it’s in the 2024 GBG though. 5.5

An old school boozer with a traditional layout, with the bar to the right and the regulars in a small seating area under the front window on this side.To the left is an open plan lounge, although the two fireplaces indicate that a wall would have divided this into two snugs. There is a comfortable bench seat running along a rear wall below a flatscreen which was off,but the furniture was rather more pine than traditional.Beyond the bar there is a pool table.Gentle muzak was playing and most arriving punters were greeted by their first names, although the barman was friendly enough to a stranger such as I.
There are 5 handpumps but only three working on my trip serving Theakston's Tour de Wot and Bitter,as well as Robinsons Unicorn, rather too cold..
Authentic but no great pull on the real ale front.

A one room pub split into three areas. The main bar is over on the right, a snug with a dog basket fireplace was over on the left where we sat and a pool table area at the back. The unusual feature here is the fishtank situated between the gents toilet and the pool room, photographed by Will on our Saturday crawl. Seven handpumps on the bar with four in operation on our visit, mostly from nationals. I went for the Theakston Best, which was ok, for what it is.

A comfortable little pub. 7 handpumps but only 4 on with one serving some kind of vinegar. It was quiet on my afternoon visit.

This pub is in a long row of terraced houses and it is close to the town centre.
Once inside here there was one room that was fairly smart and comfortable, this pub used to be a Greenalls tied house and at the time it was operating as a porters ale house which meant there was a better choice of real ales than there usually was in a Greenalls house.
There were five real ales on the bar i had a drink of Wychwood hobgoblin and this was very nice the other beers were Greenalls bitter and Bass there was also two more guest beers.

Pub visited 23/9/2000
I thought this was a fairly nice pub
