Real Ale Ray left this review about The Cock in Treacle

A handsome looking three storey Georgian building. The pub is now run by the Atwill pub group. We called in here, Saturday lunchtime and some of the local characters were well away. There were four ales on handpump, so we went for the Wincle Ales Lord Lucan 4% at a very cheap price of £2 a pint. The pub was comfortable as you'd expect from Atwill and the has retained its traditional style. The original cast iron fireplace in the front room was a nice feature.

Alan Winfield left this review about Maxwells

When i went in this pub it was called the Royal Oak and it was a Tetley tied house.
This was a decent looking pub in undressed brick and once inside there were a couple of rooms, the pub catered mainly for younger drinkers.
There were two real ales on the bar i had a drink of Tetley bitter and this was a decent drink the other beer was Tetley mild.
