Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Cat & Fiddle

Famous inn at the summit of the Buxton to Macclesfield Road, now run by the local Forest Gin distillery (down the hill in the fabulously named hamlet of Bottom of the Oven). Very gentrified inside, and mostly operating as a restaurant, but there is a comfortable lounge area in front of the bar counter, the other side of which is the coffee and bottle shop. Robinson's Unicorn (£3.80) available on the sole handpump, with three of the brewery's other beers on the keg taps. Well worth a stop, as much for the location at 515 metres above sea level as the pub itself.

Visited, drank and ate at lunch time Friday 29th December 2006. Good service, first class food, quality pint of Guiness and easy parking. Two real fires to top of the nice atmosphere. I will be back in 2007.

This pub is 1,690 feet above sea level and is one of the highest pubs in England. Robinson's ales. Nice place. Great views.
