E TA left this review about The Wyvern

Just off the main road which runs past the former HMS Daedalus, The Wyvern takes its name from one of the Westland aircraft that used to fly from there. It's a Fullers pub, a mid-20th Century building which has been extended, possibly based on a much earlier structure. The three original bar areas have been knocked into one with a single, central bar. There are plenty of comfy chairs, open fireplaces, a mix of wood and carpeted floors and a single, unobtrusive gaming machine. Locals are civilised, but the barman is not a candidate for Brain of Britain - he kept insisting that the Seafarer was the only ale they served. In the end I agreed with him (or was it his evil twin from a parallel universe?) and took my rather good pint of HSB away to sit down in peace and enjoy it. Overall, a decent pub in pleasant surroundings, well worth dropping in if passing.
