Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Barn

Reached down a narrow track off the main A816 road south of Oban, the Barn is a welcoming bar surrounded by a number of holiday cottages.

Opening hours are limited. They close Tuesday and Wednesday, whilst they also close between 2-5pm on a Monday and Thursday. I managed to get in at around 1:15 on a Thursday afternoon and was wondering if they would still be serving. They were indeed and I received a friendly welcome from the landlady.

Real ale is served here. A Fyne Ales festive beer was on - Hoppy Holly Daze, which was very enjoyable. Halfway through, I decided to ask if they were still serving food, as I'd been tempted by the smells from the kitchen after a visit to the gents. A lovely gammon, cheese, egg and chips followed. Another couple came in with their child later and also ordered food. So, there was no time pressure here, like in so many other establishments these days.

The bar itself is a rectangular room with a log burner. There is a separate dining area at the front, whilst there is a large children's play area outside.

Surrounded by rolling hills/mountains, the Barn has a delightful setting and was probably the highlight of my visit to Argyll.
