Bar/restaurant operation but no problems getting a beer and sitting at the ceramic-topped servery. Tidy-looking white and blush red interior with painted tongue and groove wood panelling with a light and airy atmosphere – somewhere to take the missus or the M-i-L perhaps. Four cask pumps with two on; Courage Directors and a local in Juice Rocket from Three Blind Mice which was poured off by the friendly barman as it was acknowledged as the first of the day, though it was still a mite warm on delivery (NBSS 2.5). GBG23 listed, which might say something about the local cask scene.

This was the last pub I visited in Kings Lynn and I was hoping for good things given its recent branding to include Ale House in the name. Sadly, I was to be disappointed, a feeling I had for most of the Kings Lynn pub scene to be honest.
This is quite a smart pub which underwent an extensive renovation in February 2020. The interior was then remodelled into a number of wooden floored separate connecting rooms with a red colour scheme running throughout which matches the new outside livery which can be seen in the most recent photo posted for this one. Then there are also tables outside on the edge of Saturday Market Place, which provide an excellent vista of the Minster opposite.
A smart bar top that proudly sports a row of five real ale hand pumps. But my question is why bother when you have four of them unbadged and Courage Directors on the sole operational one. So I am guessing this is another one whose ale sales have been greatly affected post pandemic and they now focus on food and keg products.
For the ale drinker this is such a missed opportunity pub. But it is still probably worth a visit on a fine day because even with a pint of Courage, the outside tables are a fantastic spot to sit and soak up the sun.
