Rex Rattus left this review about The Rose & Crown

This is a Greene King pub so the ale choice is inevitably somewhat limited, with GK IPA, Abbot, and Hardy & Hanson Bitter (£1.70 a half for another GK beer by another name!). Food's obviously available, with both separate kids and seniors menus. The seniors menu gives two courses for £4.99. That sounds good but the indications are that portions are smaller than the standard. I don't recall seeing a seniors menu before, but if it meets a need then I'm all for it. The standard glossy menu had all the usual pubco stuff on it, and at what appeared to be reasonable prices.

The pub itself is a mixed affair. The main bar area as you enter has some sofas on the left, plus banquettes and normal tables and chairs at the front by the windows. There's a few steps to the right of the bar counter leading up to an area with more sofas and tall tables/tall stools, and then leading down a step or two out to the garden at the rear. I didn't spot anything of note inside - just the usual prints on the walls. The TVs were off on Friday afternoon, but there was some music playing, although thankfully at a subdued background level.

This is a functional pub matching the Greene King pubco model, with nothing exceptional about it. It does its job well in providing basic fare in the way of food and fizzy stuff for those who want it. I'm not a great fan of Greene King ales, but if you're OK with them you won't be put off by this place.
