Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Blue Boar Inn

A rarity, having been rebuilt in the early part of the Second World War, but this pub has a really striking curved Art Deco frontage that must once have been a prominent waymark for London-bound traffic before the A5 bypassed the historic Watling Street alignment through Atherstone. With the main bar (with a pool table and dartboard) to one side, the smaller lounge bar at the front and another bar / dining room round the other side, the interior retains a lot of character too. Also has Churchills restaurant in a more modern extension round the back, and hotel accommodation is offered too. Now run by the local Sperrin Brewery, its Band of Brothers (£2.75) and Third Party were available from the various handpumps, together with Pedigree as a guest. I liked this one a lot, so well worth seeking out.

The Blue Boar looks like a typical 30s built pub that is at the southern end of Atherstone.
Once inside i went into an oblong shaped room to the right which was the bar room, the room is bare boarded and had comfy bench seating in bays, there were a couple of tall tables and chairs, plus a darts board to the left and pool table to the rear, there was a large drop down screen showing the West Ham v Man city game.
There is a smaller separate lounge to the left which is carpeted and had comfy bench seating.
There were three real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Sperrin Head Hunter which was a really nice drink, the other beers were Sperrin Ainsley Mild and Pedigree.
This is a very smart and comfortable pub with some cheap and very nice beers on the bar, well worth the walk.

A detached pub and eatery, with rear patio area. The pub is a 1930s build that replaced and earlier pub on the same site (well, under the front car-park). It is operated by Victory Brewery, which runs the Lord Nelson in Ansley. The pub is in undressed brick mainly, but the curving corner frontage is half rendered in white. The yellow coloured lintels and flower boxes add further colour. The interior has a nesting of rooms, with an overall WWII flavour, The main bar was being refurbished at our visit, leving a small front snug, in white and green, with photos and biographies of WWII period actor/actresses. There is then, the first a two restaurant areas, this one called Monty's restaurant. This area is in a coffee colour, with one blue wall. It is laid out with dining tables, of course. At the back there is the Churchill restaurant. Squarish, it is in red and cream, with WWII and military ephemera on the walls. The service was fine and the clientele mixed, but all eating. There was no TV that i saw and the music was general and soft. Beer; usual tap stuff, with Pedigree and two Sperrin's Brewery Victory Beers) offerings, that of Head Hunter and Third Party - both being well kept and the Third Party more to my taste. They have beer festivals. All-in-all a pleasant experience and a place i would return to - worth a visit.
