Having already been to the Wrexham branch of the Fat Boar earlier in the afternoon, I was hoping to find a much better beer in this branch, especially seeing as though it is one of 3 Good Beer Guide entries for the town of Mold. However, the Fat Boar cannot hold a candle to the excellent Mold Alehouse and the Gold Cape. In fact, I arrived to find a grand total of zero real ales.

I was left with a keg choice of Guinness, Fat Boarder Lager, San Miguel, Estrella Damm, Bad Apple, Wrexham Lager & Premium Pilsner, Asahi or Madri. I chose a bottle of J20 that was given to me with the cap still on! Apparently the young barmaid who had greeted me and served me was working her first day.

Primarily a dining establishment, apparently you can get a CAMRA discount off the non-existent ales. The interior was nice enough. But I'd be hoping for something better than a soft drink.

I turned up here early on a damp Wednesday afternoon to find it very food orientated. It looked like I was the only one just visiting for a beer.
It's basically a wooden floored single room with the bar on the left and split into areas.
There are two hand pumps which had Stonehouse Off The Rails and Salopian Lemon Dream. The Off The Rails had finished but the Lemon Dream (£3.70) was in good nick. I wished I had noticed the substantial CAMRA discount which obviously has nothing whatsoever to do with it appearing in the 2019 GBG.

This pub has been extended. To the rear there is now an extra room and the beer garden has taken over what was the car park. Very nicely done but the pub still leans more towards food than beer. Still 2 handpulls for real ale.

13/6/15:
Reopened. Totally refurbished inside, and a bit of a mess to be honest, with a main influence on food. Set on two levels the ground floor houses the bar and open kitchen. Upstairs there is more seating. Two real ales available with the possibility of a 3rd. On outside area out back was still being worked on on this visit. A bit pricey but at least its new.
