Enjoyed our visit here on 20 July with good beers. Settle Blonde, Mithril Hop with her head, and Consett English Pale Ale were enjoyed here. I was hoping to get some Barnard Castle Brewery beers here, but none on at the time, but they directed me to the brewery where I found out where I could get some bottles. This Good Beer Guide pub is well worth a visit when in the area.

Really enjoyed our visit to this pub which is in the 2014 Good Beer Guide. The Cameron's Strongarm was the best I have had in the few days we have spent in the area, and the Mithril Dere Street was on top form too. When you pass through the bar area, there is a light airy conservatory, and through there you get into an enclosed well kept garden area which was perfect on the sunny afternoon. They have music some evenings here, and I believe an annual beer festival.

After a swift trawl through the Barney pubs, this was the most promising on the Real Ale front. It is a multi roomed pub with a front bar, back lounge adining room and conservatory with walled garden, which is where we enjoyed a sunny afternoon. They have 2 regular beers and 2 rotating guests from local breweries. I had a Cumberland Corby Ale and a Roosters Wild Mule, both in good condition. The pub appears to be quiet, not sure why this is as it was perfectly acceptable. We did have a sandwich, the service for this was a little slow, but otherwise everthing was homely and comfortable. Recomended in an otherwise beer desert.
