Located just off the popular Old Market strip, this pub has had something of a chequered history of late, with spells of closure as well as some sort of private member’s club I believe, so it’s good to see it back open again as a regular pub.
Internally it’s mostly one long, open plan room, although with a separate seating area at the rear. It’s got quite a cosy ambience with some sort of wood strip on the floor, painted wood panelling on much of the walls and black painted wooden cladding down below. An old fireplace was at the front, with fitted bench seating and some colourful cushions along one side as well as regular tables and chairs. A mixture of portraits were on the walls, including one of the queen and several of the East Enders cast. The rear part was perhaps a little cosier with red patterned carpet on the floor, wallpaper on the walls and various table lamps. A booth in the corner was an unusual feature, a small private seating area with draped red and gold curtains, it looked rather like something a fortune teller might use. There was also a good-sized courtyard garden to the side.
Despite four hand pumps on the bar, only one appeared to be in use dispensing Good Chemistry's Full Circle. Ciders fared much better though, with Cider Syndicate’s Proper Drop, Vintage Cider, Ashton Press and Inch’s Medium Apple. Not a bad spot overall, and worth checking out if in the area.

If you want to get to this Pub by car, you will need to drive along Braggs Lane from the Police Station end.
This used to be a Marstons Pub in years gone by, with live music and food. Not been here for quite a while.
