David Ross left this review about Railway Tavern

A nicely old fashioned single room pub with a full island bar, wood panelling and stained glass in the interior dividers, The Railway is so named on account of the fact that the West Coast Main Line passes almost directly underneath it. There is a fairly substantial beer garden at the back, quiz nights on Thursdays, a DJ on Fridays and other, unspecified, live entertainment on Saturdays. On draught are McEwans 60 and 80 Shilling, Tartan Special, John Smith’s Bitter, Guinness, Tennents, Carlsberg, Kronenburg and Fosters lagers, as well as Strongbow cider. At £3.10 for a pint of Tennents lager, it is slightly more expensive than others nearby but, for my money, this is the best pub in town.
