Situated not too far from Hamilton Central station (Quarry street /side exit) the Victoria is one of Hamilton's oldest establishments. From the outside it doesn't really look anything other than yet another local pub, but inside its a wee gem, a traditional and pretty impressive old bar area with lots of really large glass advertising mirrors (I love these things) and advertising nik naks make you feel like your stepped back in time. The Bar itself is split into 2 areas; the main area where the bar is with ample seating and tables and areas round the bar ("L" shaped) to sit stand etc. The smaller area to the right of the bar is as noted previously a very small pool area and the toilets. Beer, spirits etc are nothing special, the usual suspects, Tennent's, Guinness etc and are priced as you would expect ( £3.10 for a pint of Tennent's Mar 2014), Not the busiest pub in the area but it does have a busy Friday/Sat when live music is on (and hosts a few birthday parties etc) - there is also a Domino league day (forget what day that is ,possibly Sunday) - Punters are usually 50 ish plus with a few younger folk in , mostly locals and on the few occasions I have popped in have been friendly (as are bar staff) No food and limited snacks available - this is really a locals bar (and a good one for locals) but its well worth a visit to see the old fashioned bar and have a nice pint.

A genuinely quaint old street corner pub, full of wood and mirrors, which looks as if it hasn’t changed significantly since the eponymous Queen was on the throne. It consists of a single, compact bar with an even smaller side room containing a pool table. The draught selection includes Caledonia Best (at £2.90 a pint), Guinness, Belhaven light, Tartan Special, Tennent’s lager and Blackthorn cider and there is also an attractive and well stocked gantry. Only a few minutes walk from Hamilton Central railway station and the bus station, but heading uphill away from the town centre, this is well worth a visit for anyone who likes traditional pubs.
