Not my first visit here - on one occasion when they used to serve beers from the local Cuillin Brewery, I was on the point of criticising the beer when the barman indicated that the man standing next to me was the brewer himself - and it always seems to be busy. My latest visit was at Sunday tea time, when every table seemed to be full with people eating, and quite a bit of the outside seating was also occupied. I was served quite quickly and took my very good pint of Orkney Dark Island out to a bench with a view of Loch Harport. This is a pleasant spot, once I had escaped the fug of cooking smells and the noise that accompanies two or three dozen people all eating and talking at the same time. It might be better to come here out of season, but then I suppose I'd be complaining about the weather.

Hidden away off the village road down a fairly steep slope with steps and and ramp it's a cramped touristy place close to Talisker distillery; probably quieter in winter than my summer visit. Three pulls of Skye brewery beers plus the usual kegstuff. Bit twee but a nice building and grand lochside location. It has a number of drinking spaces, a shed with dart board, and a bunk house. Beer ok, service a bit fraught as it’s a busy place in summer. A group in the corner appeared to be the locals who are probably glad to get the place back come November.

Beer - Kept and served very well.
Food - Very good. Cooked fresh and served efficiently.
Staff - Attentive and very friendly.
Clientele - Locals, climbers and walkers - all very friendly and sociable.
Music - Live, loud and local.
General atmosphere - Fabulous.
The B & B rooms are very comfortable, with views over the loch. Breakfast can be a rather haphazard affair, all dependant on how early in the morning the staff went to bed.
They let dogs in too.
