Not the most obvious location for a pub these days, located in the old hamlet before Nailsea became a large 60’s new town. Surprisingly large tiered interior that has had a modern makeover which isn't too bad but rather generic. Stood at the bar for 5 mins, no sign of anyone (the four other punters were dining in the rear room) so I decided that life was too short and shoved off. For reference, I could have chosen between Butcombe Original and Purity Mad Goose cask options.

A pleasant enough pub, rescued from closure a couple of years back and now seems to be doing well. There's a few bar stools around the bar, a small lounge area up a couple of steps and a good sized restaurant. Very plesant on a recent sunny Sunday afternoon, when the beer garden was pretty much full to capacity.

The menu is typical pub grub, with dishes such as pie of the day, curry of the day, fish & chips, etc. However, prices are higher than you might expect, and the quality of food doesn't really live up to what's being charged. Our starters of nachos and garlic bread with cheese both had a curious rubbery cheese sauce over them, rather than something freshly grated and flashed under the grill. Similarly a main course of Hunter's Chicken appeared to be fresh out of the micro-wave and whilst it might have been OK for a fiver, it certainly wasn't worth the £9.95 it cost. There was also a good selection of roasts available.

Beers on this occasion were Hobgoblin, Butcombe and Corage Best. Ciders were Blackthorn & Stowford Press.
