Quinno _ left this review about Number 27

Modern bar with painted third length wood panelling and bespoke hipster motivational wallpaper. Drinking at the front with food at the rear. Papers. Three ales on from Windswept; the APA was awful, taken back and off with profuse apologies. The Wolf felt barrel-end but was ostensibly ok. The Gold was much better, well-conditioned with a nice bergamot flavour. Didn't leave the best impression to be honest and I’d be tempted to skip it next time for an extended session in the Castle Tavern, a few yards up the street. 5.5

This has the feel of a continental café bar, the front part having a glazed roof which became a sun trap on the unexpectedly summery afternoon of my visit. The bar, slightly further back and on the right, reinforces this French or Belgian feel, though this is dispelled somewhat by the presence of four hand pumps serving two beers from local Cromarty brewery and two other Scottish ales that I failed to make a note of. The front windows carry semi-permanent advertisements for Real Ale Saturdays (when 10 real ales are said to be available - though I presume these are in bottles as there were only the four on the bar) and Continental Sundays (when again the 20 beers from 11 different countries must be mostly bottles, I imagine). On the subject of bottles, Tomlinson's Beer Shop is just a few paces up towards the castle and is well worth a visit if you're in this part of town.

Old Boots left this review about No.27

A crisp modern bar with a raised restaurant area to the rear, popular with the young and fashionable as well as the older and slightly less fashionable. Largely decorated with a black and white theme, arty tongue and groove, chequerboard floor tiles, globe lights, ceiling fans and nice but arty pictures. The front is a low tables and woven leather back chair drinking area, the bar counter runs down one side and opposite are some high tables and chairs. Most beer is either Scottish standards (Tennants and Belhaven) or european beers from Leffe, Morretti, Hoegaarden, Peroni and Pilsner Urquell, there are also two handpumps with well kept Scottish microbreweries products, Deeside Brude and Orkney Clootie Dumpling on my visit. There is a small range of malts and a small but wide ranging wine list. GBG2010 listed.
