Blackthorn _ left this review about Miners Rest

A traditional old country pub, located up a rather steep hill away from the central part of the village, but well worth the effort to get there. It’s a white-washed stone building, and there are a few benches out the front which offer glimpses through the trees of a fantastic view across to the Dundry hills.

It’s very much a traditional drinker’s pub, and there was no sign of any food on a recent Saturday evening visit. It’s divided in to three bars, all fairly small. The central one is where the bar counter is and this has a number of barrels racked up on stillage to the right. A cosier room is off to the left with exposed brick walls and a few regulars were in here playing darts. A third small room off to the right looks a little tattier and is clearly somewhat past it’s best, but there’s nothing at all wrong with it. Various pictures of old miners and mining implements adorn the walls.

Beers on tap were just Butcombe and London Pride. Ciders were well represented though, with Thatcher’s Traditional, Ashton Press, Blackthorn and Black Rat.
