David Ross left this review about The Stables Bar

As this is a relatively modern building, there seems no likelihood that it was ever a stables, so the name was presumably chosen at random, unless there was once a stables on the site. It's a rather rough and ready sort of place, with a poor reputation locally. Consisting of a separate bar and lounge, with an outdoor seating area at the front looking on to the main road, it is, at least, cheap. A pint of Tennent's lager cost me only £2.90 and Stella Artois, Guinness, Belhaven Best, Tennent's light and Strongbow cider are also on tap. The bar has a pool table, three TV screens, all showing horse racing, games machines and a video jukebox.
