Historic pub that is said by some to be the oldest pub in Glasgow, however it's very 90's inside and is almost an antitypical Scottish pub with carpets throughout, fake stained glass windows and internal panels.

Pretty busy at 5pm on a Friday with everyone seemingly knowing everyone else. Music played, the tvs were on mute and everyone was chatting away, albeit loudly!

Belhaven Best on draught was the only choice for me, not much wrong with this smooth beer, not exactly a drink that can be messed up!

The 3 of us stayed for one drink that lasted about 30 minutes and left the pub just as a row was breaking out across the bar, time to exit right we thought.

A decent enough pub but fairly standard for Glasgow.

My last visit to this pub about 6 years ago (popped in to get out of a downpour) was not a positive one (drunk customers and foul language) So upon hearing that this Glasgow institution looks like getting pulled down I decided on another visit - And it was a GOOD one - the bar itself is one large square room, it is very dark with a black wooden bar, wooden panelling and largish both areas with red leather seats, the walls have some interesting and old pictures of Glasgow - including the pub itself)- and advertising signs. The bar area itself is quite small and stocked with the usual tap beers ( Guinness, Tennent's, Stella, Caledonian) and spirits. I had a very nice pint of Tennenet's for £2.95 - Bar staff were really nice and chatted away to me as were the locals amongst them a local historian that told me the history of the pub (not boring) a very friendly bar indeed - At night (at weekends) the bar is very busy with singers, karaoke and various events (it even has a very popular Wednesday night ) The Old College is what it is an old pub with no frills for a good pint- what it does have is character , great customers/staff and a charm all of its own. Let hope this place doesn't get pulled down.

This is one of several contenders for the title of Glasgow’s oldest pub, although only dating from 1810. The name derives from the fact that it is located across the road from the original site of Glasgow University, although it’s difficult to imagine now that it might once have been full of students. The compact interior tries to create and olde worlde atmosphere, but doesn’t really succeed. The TV and piped music detract somewhat from the image.
