Blackthorn _ left this review about Miners Arms

A traditional pub located on a somewhat uninspiring one way system, it has a surprisingly pleasant and cosy ambience although I know that live music features regularly and I have picked Mrs B. up from here before now at 1:00 in the morning when there have been people spilling out the door and it’s been very loud. So the atmosphere that you encounter will no doubt depend upon when you visit. A ladies darts match was in progress on our recent Thursday evening visit.

The flooring is mostly dark, wooden boards with a mixture of cream and khaki green paintwork as well as some exposed stonework and a stone fire-places with a collection of logs piled up and a few horse brasses hanging on the mantelpiece. A room off to the left housed a pool table and a number of trophies and shields. A snug area at the rear was carpeted and contained a couple of low leather sofas. A plasma screen was playing a music channel and a shelf around the top of the bar had a collection of old jugs, including one from the now defunct Smiles Brewery. A patio area is at the front although the outlook isn’t that great, and a sign indicated that they also have a beer garden at the rear.

Beers on tap were Butcombe and Courage Best whilst the ciders were Thatcher’s Gold and Blackthorn, along with Cheddar Valley from a box behind the bar. All in all, this is quite a decent community pub.
