Alpen Lodge is a small bar with L-shaped seating around the bar counter in the left rear corner. It was full of old drunken Glaswegian men during a recent midweek late evening visit so there was a lively atmosphere. Chas & Dave were playing in the background through some tinny speakers, which I wasn’t expecting. Standard keg and Staropramen were available from the polite barman. I’m not planning to revisit.

The Alpen Lodge is a pretty small bar just across from Central station (Hope St exit) as noted by "Hondo" below staff and clientèle are friendly - standard pints and vodkas etc. Has really clean toilets and enough seating and areas to rest your pints make it a nice enough bar to visit, it also has a really good jukebox and an old TV just above the door as you enter. Monday to Thursday is quiet , Friday can be busy but on Saturday it can be packed as there is an immensely popular and busy live music / dance function on downstairs (in 2 stages around 2pm - 6pm mad mums out with their pals then 8pm - closing time singles on the pull) that can result in the upstairs bar filling up with over 40 year old lotharios building up their Dutch courage for an assault on the dance floor . Clientele are generally over 40 but come from all over central belt and further afield but I have enever seen any problems as bar staff are always on top of things - Drinks upstairs are cheaper than downstairs so you CAN'T take your drink down (they need to pay for the singers , who are pretty good) - Good bar for a fun night out

Small bar located close to Glasgow central station. Standard draught selection. Drink memorabilia on the walls. Friendly welcome from the bar staff on my visit.

Used to be good till they let minesweeping junkies in who have driven out the decent people out for a good time and a drink after work. Bodyswerve unless you want your drink lifted or your mrs insulted by a scummy

Downstairs at Alpen Lodge is usually packed at the weekend and it is pretty cramped withthe low ceiling. But a nice mixed age crowd with some great singers.GOod for a fun night out - One major downside are the downstairs toilets (the gents at any rate) sodden and potentially harbouring mutated bacteria!!! Upstairs is nice enough more a local but folk seem nice.
