A very smart tourist pub in a well presented village with historical connections to Admiral Cochrane, the famous hero of the Napoleonic wars, some of whose exploits were borrowed for the Hornblower novels. All the tables were set for dining, most with reserved signs, at the time of my mid-afternoon visit, though I had no trouble plonking myself at one of them while I supped my half. I only saw one hand pump, which was serving Inveralmond Fair Maid, a blonde beer as suggested by the name. The ceiling was unusually decorated with what appeared to be hand-painted reproductions of old brewery and distillery advertisements. The pub seemed to be doing a good trade among people who had clearly come here for food rather than beer. If it's not food you're after, then this pub is not one to make a special trip to see, though pleasant enough if you happen to be passing.

This pub sits in a 16th century time memorial. The whole village is from a bygone age. The pub is very small inside but has a very large eating area. I felt a bit out of place just having a pint of Belhaven, when everyone else is sitting eating. Definitely set up for tourists as the A985 Kincardine to Rosyth road bypasses Culross and one has to turn of to see the village. As are a lot of the villages on the North side of the River Forth. The pub is very much worth a visit as after touring the village a pint is most welcome.
