Our base for a weeks holiday - the food and hospitality has been 2nd to none.

We started with a lovely Sunday Lunch and felt compelled to come back later in the week for a similar quality mid week meal.

The owners extended a warm welcome to us in these troubled times.

Two real ales - Tribute and Proper Job. The Proper Job was so good that I couldn't be tempted to change alligence.

Nice pub on the village square with something of an emphasis on food but still welcoming to drinkers. A nice comfortable, traditional feel to the main bar in the front and a larger restaurant area behind with many beams. St Austell beers in good order.

This was a comfortable friendly pub with seats out in front in the market square. Multi-roomed including a snug. St Austell pub and we enjoyed their Proper Job beer while watching the TV screen which was set to show photographs of the area which were good to watch as we had just done the walk round Cape Cornwall, and the photos of the area were great.
The above was in July 2012, and I was back after a walk round Cot Valley and Cape Cornwall again. Enjoyed St Austell Tribute and Job sat outside at the front in the sun. A few interesting rooms inside.

Quaint old pub in St Just that is well worth a visit. Superb food and a very warm welcome. My husband worked in India and Goa for many months and grew to become quite a curry addict, even making his own. Last week we visited the Kings Arms and he ordered the Goan fish curry, proclaiming it to be as good as any he has eaten in Goa and very authentic in flavour. A rare thing in a pub curry! My steak was well cooked and so tender it could almost be cut with a fork. I asked for no salad on the plate as I have an allergy to some of its components and I was immediately asked if I would like mushrooms instead. The landlady who was cooking that day actually came out of the kitchen and asked me if I would like her to make a special sauce for the mushrooms. Now that IS service. Fabulous food, amazing service and all washed down with real ale. What more could you ask?

A terraced St Austell pub, with front patio. It is an undressed Georgian looking stone cottage, with a central entrance and sympathic modern windows. An old red box telephone is outside, with a Victorian street lamp, which goes to create a palimpsest of village life. The interior is a warren - which contains a restaurant area, a snug and a bar room - i only saw the last of these as i was on a tight schedule. The bar room is L-shaped, with a large stone fireplace. It is in coffee, white and undressed stone, has a red and beam ceiling, patterned carpet and wood seating. There is a large barrell feature in the middle of the room and old photos and coins on the walls as a bit of a feature. The service was very friendly and the clientele very mixed, many being outside in the sun, although there were diners too. I didn't eat so can't comment on that. There is a TV, which was silent - showing views of the area. There was no music. Beer; usual tap stuff with Tribute and Proper Job on handpull - the Job being decent. A really pleasant place, and with the warm welcome definitely worth a visit - i feel it needs a little more on the real ale front, but that is just my personal opinion.
