Belhaven (so GK) owned heritage pub, on the CAMRA list. The place splits into two on opening, with a long servery to the left and a number of discrete seating booths to the right, separated by a number of cut-throughs in the dividing wall. The main bar is splendid, a massive dark varnish wood seven bay gantry with plenty of arches and inset mirrors. The booths are more modern but quite well done, although each one has a TV with the sport on which renders them useless for a quiet chat – can’t the customer just turn them off at their own discretion? Gold, cream and racing green is the tasteful colour scheme throughout the pub. Four pumps with just one cask on, a slightly flabby but drinkable Greene King Bonkers Conkers (NBSS 2.5).

A large bar with an impressive front, this is quite a classy affair, similar in feel to a Nicholsons pub, as mentioned below, with its booth seating in the side room. We received a friendly greeting and our beers were well served and in good condition. The four hand pumps offered a choice of Caledonian Deuchars IPS, Alechemy Rhapsody, Cairngorm Sheepshaggers Gold and Inveralmond Lia Fail. There's a growing display of former pump clips which suggests that there will be different beers on by the time you read this.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Grosvenor
Although you wouldn't really expect it from the narrow frontage, this Taylor Walker pub is quite substantial with a long rectangular bar with a side room of similar size. Attractive furniture and decor (including some booths) similar to a Nicholsons. Unfortunately, just one of the four handpumps was working and I needed to ask for a top-up of my Caledonian Flying Scotsman (£3.60, served in the right glass). Even more unfortunately, the barmaid proved very reluctant and started talking about 5% head when the issue with the 'lively' beer was closer to 15%. Anyway, when I finally got something resembling a pint it turned out that the beer was fine (even if the 'choice' or service was not). Overall, will probably give it another try as I may have caught it on a bad day.
