David Ross left this review about The Victory Bar

Although it looks a bit like a converted council house from the outside, and sits in the middle of a council estate, the Victory is pleasant enough inside. The name, incidentally, derives from its location across from Victory Park. The advertised “Bar and Lounge” is really just a single room, with the slightly plusher looking section at one end being, presumably, the lounge. There is also a not particularly appealing concreted beer garden at the front and side, looking onto the park. Tennent’s lager costs £3 a pint and Fosters lager, McEwan’s lager, McEwan’s 60 Shilling, Guinness and Strongbow cider are also on draught. Being outside the town centre, the customers appear to be predominantly locals and it’s not somewhere you’re likely to stumble across unless you’re looking for it, which there would be little point in doing.
