David Ross left this review about Hamilton Arms Hotel

The section to the left hand side of the main entrance, designated as the public bar, was closed and, since it was a Saturday night when I came here for a pint, I would assume this to be the normal state of affairs. I had a drink instead in the lounge, which is now serving as the main drinking area. This has mainly sofa seating, in addition to a few bar stools, and was dominated by a wedding party whose reception had presumably taken place in the hotel. My pint of Carling lager cost me £3 and Stella Artois, Guinness, Coors lager and Magner’s cider are also on tap, as is a rarity called MacLachlan’s Ale. I was here before, about 10 years ago, when the public bar was open and, if my memory serves me well, I much preferred it.
