This Ex Wetherspoons is just the same as before apart from the price hike. All the 12 handpumps are still on the bar with 11 of them now redundant although the one working was Dragonhead Stout by the Orkney brewery which was on good form.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Saltoun Inn (JD Wetherspoon)

Traditional hotel, given the Wetherspoon treatment in the bar and extended dining areas, but still very much serving its long-standing purpose as an inn. The 1801 building (apparently originally funded as a gentlemen's club by the Gardeners' Friendly Society) remains one of the most impressive in the town, overlooking the main square. The multi-room interior has little to write home about, but the place was doing good business even on a Sunday evening. Surprisingly good choice of real ales and ciders from the two banks of six handpumps, with festival examples including the Big Shed Kol Schisel Australian collaboration and Maxim Raspberry Porter (£1.99).

This is a JDW Hotel and is accessible by public transport via a long journey on the 67 bus from Aberdeen.
It's an attractive old stone built hotel in the centre of Fraserburgh. Inside it's a wide rectangular room with the bar at the rear and split into various areas. The fixtures and fittings are better than average.
Although there are twelve hand pumps the beer choice was poor. Doubled up were two available soon, the Scottish JDW Trio Of Doom and Wibblers Genesis. I went for the Genesis (£2.09) by default which was served in a stupid dimple jug before I could change it. This was in pretty average condition but later in the day I noticed in the JDW tasting notes that the pale beer I had tried was supposed to be an amber red ale!
This is actually quite a nice place but as a real ale outlet hopeless.
This seems to be a common theme in the more obscure Scottish JDWs.
It's GBG 2018 listed.
