Whilst the beer was good (Betty Stogs) unfortunately it was difficult to purchase it. One of my biggest gripes is people sitting at the bar and stopping other clientele getting beer and this pub was the worst I've encountered. The bar is of sufficient size but due to customers sitting at it there was only about 1foot of space left to get a drink. I don't think I'll be returning.

A very nice pub indeed, in fact it borders on great pub Being 13th century and part of very old Lostwithiel it is full of nooks and crannies and odd corners. Mainly now divided into two areas, with another area to rear and side as restaurant only
The small entrance door leads into a vestibule, from where one goes into medium sized bar area, drinking only. Adjacent and to rear is mixed eat & drinking which is laid out with tables, this gives access to the restaurant proper
Free house, so wide choice of draught hand pulls, I had Betty Stoggs. You will find more about the beers on the pubs web site, suffice to say the ones I tried were all good
Serves food, and very well to, all very tasty & well presented, excellent value for money, but is more foodie than normal pub grub. Extensive menu, with blackboard specials. Worth going just for the food, I ate there both nights, so I put my money where my review is
Very busy in evenings, so if going to eat "on spec" in high season you may be out of luck, or have to wait a bit for an empty table. worth booking if in doubt
Parking may very well be a problem, especially in high season, although free on street parking, the road is narrow & one way, the 13th century planners just lacked a bit of forethought here. However it is easily & pleasantly walkable on level ground
There are 5 pubs in Lostwithiel, I tried them all, and can honestly say if you can only manage one pub during your visit, make it this one
Also does B & B
8 stars not 10 because of parking and limited opening hours [see pub web site]
I would & did go back
