Steve C left this review about Fountain Lane

Fountain Lane is a dimly lit L-shaped pub with a central L-shaped bar counter that supports a standard and premium keg range. Banquette seating runs around the exterior walls and at the rear are a couple of snugs. A couple of televisions were showing muted Sky Sports whilst some background music played during a recent midweek afternoon visit. Out the front are some picnic tables that are separated from the path by some waist high planters. I found the service to be painfully slow and there was only a handful of people in the pub.

Called in early one afternoon and couldn't get anywhere near the bar for shoppers. The place was pretty full and they only had one person serving. Not good. We went across the road to Copperfields instead.

Clive Thompson left this review about Fountain Tavern

Many pubs that have gone down the gastro route can learn from pubs such as this. The restaurant is a separate area upstairs whilst the downstairs retains it's public bar qualities serving simple bar food. On entering I thought they had some quirky policy about church music then realised Tommy Burns' funeral was being shown on TV. Good pub for tourists and locals alike, look out for the revolving bar stools.
