Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The White Rose
One of the larger seafront pubs, with a partially opened-out interior featuring various seating / dining areas in an overall 'L' shape. Decorative dark-wood panelling helps give the place a bit of a traditional feel, but the furniture is distinctly ordinary. On the beer front, just Doom Bar and Bass (£2.85) from the two banks of three handpumps.

Stood at the corner of Newton and Mumbles Roads, the White Rose is a large, rambling pub handy for visitors to nearby Oystermouth Castle. The pub was the traditional starting point for anyone undertaking the Mumbles Mile pub crawl, but the city's student population now all seem to head to Wind Street on a Friday night, so the crawl appears to be nothing but a distant memory these days. That at least gave me the chance to finally explore this place properly, as previous visits back in the day, saw the pub mobbed by bus loads of thirsty crawlers. The main bar is a part carpeted, part quarry stone floored room with the servery opposite the main entrance. The bar has an elaborately decorated counter, a plain bar back and an intricate canopy, which combines to pretty good effect. The former multi-room layout can still be roughly picked out, but there seems to have been a lot of re-modelling over the years that has resulted in a rather confused floor plan. There are plenty of dark wood ceiling panels which work well with the half panelled walls and stained glass partitioning screens to create a traditional feel, despite the alterations. There is an area to the right which is partly screened from the rest of the front part of the pub where some beautiful full height panelling with decorative carved features and high capitals can be enjoyed. Beyond this there is an area with sofas and standard seating in a blander space and behind the bar you can find a sizeable lounge of sorts with lots of comfy looking seating. Décor throughout was fairly minimal and dominated be Christmas decorations.
There were three handpulls on the bar, one of which was out of action, leaving a choice between Greene King IPA and Wychwood Hobgoblin. I tried a pint of the latter which was in good shape, although this beer seems to become increasingly boring and flavourless each time I drink it.
This is not a bad pub and some of the panelling and features within are worth a quick look, but it suffers a bit for now being far too big for the sort of crowd it is able to attract. A couple more decent beers could make it a worthy venue in its own right, but as it stands it is playing second fiddle to a few of the excellent pubs just around the corner.

This is a slightly bizarre corner pub, with patio and beer garden areas. It claims to date from 1856, and there is certainly a pub on the site by 1878. Whatever that pub was like, the current pub is a wedding cake. There is a three storey main area, with a two storey (with dormers) to one side and a single storey to the other. The main part has a white rendered lower, a white and timber Tudor-style middle tier (with oriel window) and a stone clad upper tier. My personal opinion is that it looks a bit tacky. The interior has a central island serving bar, with dining and some drinking area all around it. The décor has coffee and brown patterned wallpapered walls with wood panel and coloured glass. There is a pool table at the back. It has old photos on the walls and a TV had sport on. The music was general and at a soft level. The service was fine and the clientele seemed to mainly be holidaymakers, eating. We didn't eat, but the prices seemed fine. Beer; usual tap stuff with Bath Ales' Gem, Sunny Republic's Shark Head and a decent Hop Back Summer Lightning on handpull. A better experience than I expected from the outside, definitely worth a visit, even if just for one.

Good-sized pub that's usually the starting point of the Mumbles Mile. Drinks on the upper side of reasonable but not so bad. A relatively good atmosphere
