I initially believed that the Eli Jenkins is set back from the road behind a large picnic strewn paved beer garden. I later realised that I had entered through the rear garden. The interior comprises a bar on the left-hand wall that faces some high tables and stools. Standard seating and tables are found around the exterior walls and there is a small raised seating area with fireplace to the right of the front entrance. Plasma screens are located throughout for showing all sports on Sky and BT. During a recent Tuesday afternoon visit there was some background music playing, but on a subsequent Wednesday evening visit football was being shown.
Available from the polite bar staff was a range of standard and premium keg alongside cask Sharp’s Doom Bar, St Austell Tribute and Brains Rev. James. There is also a bottled craft beer selection. The food menu is straight out the back of a Brakes lorry, much like any chain pub. On the plus side it is cheap, as an example a bacon cheese burger and chips is £8.25 with an extra burger option for £1.50. I found the food to be good for the price. I would use this pub if I lived locally.

Graham Coombs left this review about The Eli Jenkins

Pub conversion of old listed building overlooking the Roald Dahl Plass and with large outdoor area facing Bute Street. Reasonably pubby feel, although interior a bit cluttered. Slight emphasis on family eating, at least during the day time, but fair range of beers including Brains Rev James and Greene King IPA. Cask Marque listed.
