15 PINTS MY limit left this review about The Dyfi Forester Inn

Covid era Review: Decent Beer Garden with an outside bar meaning staff are right on hand to serve without you needing to get up. You can now smoke without leaving your pint. Oddly the current set up is more Disability friendly as the toilets are outside and at the same level as the bar.
Pub landlord/lady are great at welcoming all and chat all day, it's a place that is busy with workers on their way home. A Freehouse that's got a local Welsh Ale on tap(or barrel at bar currently) on all the time. I've never had a poor pint here.

Having heard over the last few years that the beer has improved here, I decided to limp in for a pint having been broken on the Wales Coast Path earlier in the day. From the outside it looks run-down to the point of you wondering if it’s even occupied. It’s lighter and brighter inside than before (it couldn’t have been dirtier or gloomier) if still pretty straightforward and mainly stuck somewhere in the late 1970’s. Two ales on; Evan Evans WPA (a cracking NBSS 4) and Wye Valley Butty Bach. Very busy in here with a lively atmosphere to match and I thought it notable that there were more women than men in attendance! So yes, well-worth a stop for a pint if you enjoy simple local boozers.

January 2010
A shabby interior which desperately needs some TLC; a scruffy red carpet, chipped paint, dirty walls. The retro 60’s bar top and the friendly service were the only real saving graces, had a good chinwag with the barmaid about Tesco’s opening in the town. The beer was nothing special, Felinfoel I think. One for the locals only. Rated 4

Another visit showed it to be much the same pub but the Evan Evans St David's Ale at £2.90 although good wasn't the very high quality that the Sadler's ale was over four years earlier. It's still worth a look but score reduced from 8 to 7.

Review October 2014

I remember coming here the very first time I visited Mach and have never been back as it had always looked a bit of a dive. Seeing it appear in the 2015 GBG meant it was definitely time to visit it for the first time in 38 years,
Conveniently it is the closest pub to the station making it very handy for those annoying long waits when changing lines.
Inside it's still a basic sort of pub but seemed clean and tidy enough to me. It's a single room with a square island bar, a jukebox and darts and a garden at the rear that I didn't investigate.
On the bar were two ales Wood's Shropshire Lad and Sadler's Mellow Yellow both at £2.00 a pint. I went for the Mellow Yellow which was very well kept. On my late afternoon flying visit the other punters seemed to be mainly from the building trade making it no different from a local boozer in any other town.
This is clearly a much improved place, anyone doubting that might be interested to hear that it received a five out of five hygiene rating from Powys Council at the start of 2014 and with the well kept ales at two quid a pint the obvious pub to go for in Mach.

Beer Belly left this review about The Dyfi Forester Inn

Good small town Pub, can be quiet in an evening but can occasionally get busy if a Pub League match is on.
Always excellent kept beer and a couple of real ales on just enough for this market. Never get a cold welcome here. Unless it's in jest. Mach has a quirky sense of humour that some don't get.
