A very old building with a lovely interior. You enter into an area with settles either side of an old kitchen range, with booth seating to the left. The bar parlour is further back and on the right, with three hand pumps. At the time of my visit these were offering Bass, Greene King IPA and Three Tuns Pale - half a dozen spare pump clips behind the bar suggest a policy of rotation is applied. There's a games room (with a pool table but apparently no darts board) to the left and another room to the right which I didn't explore. At the time of my Saturday night visit there was no music, just conversation and banter among what appeared to be locals. A further visit on the following Monday found the place almost empty and the person behind the bar singing along to a CD. On the second occasion the Three Tuns was getting a little tired, having been in good condition on the Saturday. This may just indicate that three real ales is too many in a town like this in the depths of winter. I'd certainly be back to this one if in Llanidloes again.

On a recent visit to the town I had high hopes for this place. It looks really quaint What a let down. On arrival at about 1.45pm we were told that the pub was closed until 5pm. No problem thinks I, we can make it our last port of call before boarding our coach at 6. Wished we hadn't bothered. Draught Bass was just about drinkable but you wouldn't want to be drinking from the same cask tomorrow. Landlord made us feel like we were really inconveniencing him by being there and making him get up from his paper to serve us.
All the other 8 pubs in the town welcomed us with open arms - not that we were after any special favours or anything but we were, after all, a coach party of 30 odd CAMRA members.

There were no other customers in this place at all - I think that says it all.
