Blue Scrumpy left this review about Horse & Jockey

The town of Knighton was to be our resting place for the night after a day traversing rural pubs in Powys. The Horse & Jockey was our first port of call in the town.

It has been well described previously. We sat in a rather old room with low ceilings. Only a few other customers were present inside. There was one guy on a laptop and a family about to tuck into their evening meal at a table set inside a fireplace! Outside, the courtyard was much busier.

Wye Valley Butty Bach & Three Tuns XXX were the 2 real ales. The pub also does accommodation, as we had looked to stay here. But £130 a night seems steep for a pub B & B.

Beautiful old coaching inn, with a series of ramshackle buildings arranged in a horseshoe fasion. Something for everyone - posh restaurant with booths, front bar, back bar, pool room.

Three Tuns in excellent condition and best Beef Baguette every eaten.

Visited the front bar and had a good time talking to the regulars. Three ales on handpump, Hobsons and Three Tuns very well kept.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Horse & Jockey

Interesting inn with various buildings set around a picturesque courtyard. Avoiding the larger and noisier main bar, the compact lounge offers a convivial spot to enjoy a pint of old Speckled Hen or the local Hobson's bitter. Also has a busy restaurant and some good-value accommodation. (NB - Review dates from September 2009.)
